ROWAN BENCH

The Rowan Bench takes aesthetic cues from Scandinavian and Japanese furniture. Its linear form serves to showcase the beautifully characterful English Oak and expressed mortice and tenon joinery. These benches were destined for a contemporary Clerkenwell flat and were lightly fumed with ammonia in order to darken the timber and harmonise with the homes material palette. The differing height handles were to accommodate hanging drawers on an antique dining table and the seat boards were angled for comfort, stabilised using contrasting 5200 year old Bog Oak keys.
